1. What's the menu above the Schedule?
We use this for our site navigation, it helps you quickly locate our site content and features.
2. What's in Preferences?
Preferences sets your location for the distance calculator on all schedules, event selection for our personalized Custom schedule, and event selection for our personalized Custom RSS feed. Cookies must be enabled for this feature to function. If you are at a public computer be aware the cookie is encrypted for your protection and checking "the delete cookie when I end this session" will delete the cookie when the browser is closed.  Please note when using the Opera browser: hit reload when the  Preferences page or the Schedule distance calculator does not seem function.
3. Why is my Address not accepted?
Yahoo Geocoding calculates the precise Latitude and Longitude when a street address or non-USA location is entered on the Preferences page. When Yahoo rejects an address or location, you must either correct it or remove it. When a street address is not entered, we use the Latitude and Longitude corresponding to the geographical center of your city.
4. Why is my Zip Code not accepted?
It's not in the zip code table. We use a publicly available zip code table that may be slightly out of date. Please submit a ticket to our helpdesk with your zip code, city and state.
5. How does the distance calculator work?
It computes the great circle (direct as if no roads exist) distance from the your exact street address or geographic center of your zip code location set in your preferences, to the venue's exact address or geographic center of it's zip code location. The calculated distance is only an estimate and driving mileage will likely be higher especially where a water barrier exists such as the Long Island Sound. Driving instructions and a map are available by clicking the "Purple Car" icon associated with each listing.
6. What data are you collecting?
Please review our Privacy Policy.
7. Why is the printed schedule different than the listing?
This is  intentional to make the printed listing easer to read. Most of the non-schedule text is hidden, the weather and map icons are hidden and all text coloring set to black.  This is done using Cascading Style Sheets, CSS.
8. What areas are you covering?
The World.
9. What resolution and font is best for viewing this page?
This page uses a sans-serif font, preferably Arial. Best viewing is 1024x768 or higher. Using 640x480 usually generates horizontal scroll bars and is not recommended.
10. Who are you?
The site was designed, coded and is maintained by Arn Burkhoff, an IT consultant and Cajun and Zydeco dancer. Arn and How Carson, an IT consultant and dancer, provide operational support and respond to Helpdesk requests.
11. Why are you doing this?
Somebody needed to do it and we enjoy serving the Cajun Zydeco dance community.
12. Does it take much time to do the updates?
Using our online event form makes manual posting an easy task, however most of our events are entered by our web robot, partners, bands, promoters, venues, and users, so we no longer do much data entry except for manually updating incomplete events the web robot would not post. Additionally, we have invested over two thousand hours designing the system, setting up the database, coding the PHP, HTML, CSS and Javascript used by the system, and we continue updating and improving the web site.
13. Where do you get your information?
A substantial portion of our events are gathered by our automated web robot. The robot scans many band schedules on Tuesday and Friday. The remainder are entered by partners, bands, promoters, venues, and readers.
14. Why all the purple and green?
The site uses Mardi Gras colors.
15. Can your staff work on my website or mainframe system?

16. Can I use your schedule technology on my site?

17. Why don't I see events from my area on the schedule?
Events are mantained by the bands, promoters and user community. If you maintain an area schedule or want to post events for your area of the world, please signup for posting rights or submit a ticket to our Helpdesk for a more information.
